I am an Artist based out of Chicago, IL.
A primary area of interest in recent years has been media archiving: the salvage and historical preservation of digital media (websites, videos, software tools, independent games, web based interactive art, demo scene material, and tech related articles). This has proven to be a daunting endevour; making overwhelming demands of my time. The benefits however have proven to be far and wide. From a cultural perspective, the actual process of archiving has revealed entirely new pathways for discovering content. This in-turn exposes me to various forms of media I would not locate otherwise.
I place great emphasis on actually studying the material I archive, rather than blindly saving it for future redistribution. Interestingly enough, redistributing data in its original form seems to only further perpetuate a complacency with regards to the vulnurability of digital media. As such, my goal is often to structure salvaged content in new ways to help convey meaning and context with greater clarity.
A few of my other projects delve into game related technical research. I have an evolving curiosity in the upper echelon of technical dexterity found in such practices as sequence breaking and 1CC's also known as 1 Credit Clears. I feel much can be learned from both studying and putting into practice the limits of human computer interaction.
For over 9 years I provided web design services at a freelance level to a myriad of top industry clients. However recently I have removed myself from this role. Due to the Internet's shift to corporate dominance and conformity in design aesthetics, my goals for expressing my creativity online are changing considerably. I am still deeply interested in using the web as a medium for expression, however, I plan to explore the usage of web technologies to convey thoughts and ideas in more unconventional ways. To clarrify: I no longer wish to restrict my options for visual presentation on the standards set in place by the webdesign community and browser vendors abroad.
"I swim through a sea of stars,
without looking back to shore.
Faster than light, bending time.
Forever
Wherever" -RTF
Instead of following the current trend of publishing thoughts online in bite sized pieces (ie. blogs) for immediate gratification, I instead choose to work on extensive projects which may take years to complete before becoming available for public consumption.
Thoroughness yields a much more interesting result.
